Greeting the reader

Perhaps a Latin phrase like lectori salutem raises the question of why greet the reader. The answer reveals itself when we reverse the question: why not? Even for the hurried passerby who only lingers here briefly, a wish for prosperity is not misplaced.

Furthermore, the greeting also holds a certain amount of gratitude towards the reader. Akin to the musician's gratitude for the ear of their listener. It is a sign of appreciation for the most precious thing you, the reader, can give: a moment of your time and attention.
